Adjusting Grabbing Settings
To adjust grabbing settings click the Settings... button at the bottom of the Grab Audio CD task window. After that the Grabbing Settings window will pop up, which comprises four tabs:
- General Tab
- Output Format Tab
- Track Names Tab
- CDDB Options Tab
General Tab

Grab Mode - this dropdown list offers you to select one of the available grabbing modes. They are:
- Burst Mode - use it for fast grabbing without error correction. Select it for grabbing discs in perfect condition (with no scratches or other visible damage).
- Synch Mode - use it for fast audio track grabbing. Only jitter errors will be corrected if present.
- Secure Mode - use it for good-quality grabbing. Errors will be corrected with double precision but overall grabbing speed will descrease.
- Paranoid Mode - the slowest and the most accurate grabbing mode available.
Destination Folder - here you can view and change the destination directory, where the output folder will be saved.
- Create Artist Name Folder - if you leave this box checked, an additional folder with the artist name will be created within the destination folder.
- Create Album Name Folder - if you leave this box checked too, an additional folder with the album name will be created within the artist name folder.
Final Output Folder - in this section you can view the whole path to the tracks that will be grabbed.
Output Format - here the output file format and its settings are displayed, to change them click the appropriate button and you will see the Output Format tab open.
Free Space on Drive - free space on the selected local disk is shown here.
Required Space - space needed for you to save the selected tracks is displayed here.
Press OK to accept all the changes made or Cancel to discard them. In any case the window will be closed.

Output Format Tab

Within this tab you can select the output format for the grabbed audio tracks. Three options are available: MP3, WMA and WAV. Depending on the selected format different settings will be displayed within the tab.
MP3 Format - you can define the following settings:
- Channels - select the number of channels (stereo - two channels, mono - one channel).
- Sample Rate - select the number of samples per second taken from a continuous analogue signal to make it a discrete digital signal. As a rule, setting a higher sample rate improves audio file quality and increases its size.
- Bitrate - select the number of bits that are transferred or processed per second. As a rule, setting a higher bitrate value improves audio file quality and increases its size.
- Advanced - use this button to configure Advanced MP3 Settings.
WMA Format - you can define the following settings:
- Preset - in this area you can select one of the available ready WMA presets. To find the needed preset easily, use the WMA Format Filter.
- Sample Rate - select a sample rate value to see the corresponding presets that contain this sample rate.
- Channels - select a number of channels to see the corresponding presets that contain this number of channels.
- Bitrate - select a bitrate value to see the corresponding presets that contain this bitrate.
WAV Format - you can define the following settings:
- Channels - select the number of channels (mono, stereo, 3front, surround etc).
- Sample Rate - select the number of samples per second taken from a continuous analogue signal to make it a discrete digital signal. As a rule, setting a higher sample rate improves audio file quality and increases its size.
- Sample Size - select the size of samples taken from a continuous analogue signal to make it a discrete digital signal. Increasing the sample size improves sound quality, but doubles file size.
Press OK to accept all the changes made or Cancel to discard them. In any case the window will be closed.

Track Names Tab

Here you can specify the tracks sequence and their naming. In the area on the left check the track details you want to be included into its name and uncheck the ones you don't want to. These details are:
- Track Number - check this box to include a track number (i.e. 01, 02 etc.) into the output track name.
- Artist Name - check this box to include the name of the artist performing the song.
- Song Name - check this box to include the song name into the output track name.
- Album Name - check this box to include the name of the album, which the song belongs to.
You can also adjust the sequence of the details included into the track name. For this purpose use the following buttons:
- Move Up - use this button to move the selected track detail up. After that it will be situated closer to the beginning of the track name.
- Move Down - use this button to move the selected track detail down. After that it will be situated closer to the end of the track name.
In the Separator field you can select a separator type that will be used for naming the grabbed tracks. The following options are available: none, space, dash, dot, underline, space dash space.
In the Preview area you can see the example of the output file name with the selected separator and track details.
Press OK to accept all the changes made or Cancel to discard them. In any case the window will be closed.

CDDB Options Tab

The CD databases (CDDB) are used to look up audio CD information over the Internet. This is performed by a client which calculates a (nearly) unique disc ID and then queries the database. As a result, the client is able to display the artist name, CD title, track list and some additional information.
List of CDDB Servers - here you can see the list of available CDDB servers and select in what sequence they will be queried. The following controls for managing CDDB servers are available here:
- Up - use this button to move the selected server up in the list.
- Down - use this button to move the selected server down in the list.
- Delete - use this button to delete the selected server from the list.
New CDDB Server - here you can enter the address of a new CDDB server.
- Add - use this button to add the entered server name to the CDDB servers list.
- Replace - use this button to replace the selected server in the CDDB servers list with the new one.
Use Proxy Server - check this box and use the fields below if you establish Internet connections via some proxy server.
- Proxy - enter the name of the proxy server you are using.
- User Name - specify your user name for the proxy server to identify you.
- Port - specify the port of your proxy server by entering its number using keyboard or clicking one of the black arrows.
- Time Out - set the time out for connections in milliseconds by entering a certain value using keyboard or clicking one of the black arrows.
Note: you can find out this information using the Internet Explorer settings.
Press OK to accept all the changes made or Cancel to discard them. In any case the window will be closed.
